UFC 158: Condit says that Hendricks is 'more dangerous version' of Dan Henderson

Carlos Condit believes that UFC 158 opponent Johny Hendricks and Dan Henderson have a lot in common, but Hendricks brings more to the table.

Carlos Condit had risen through the ranks of the WEC and UFC without many setbacks until he was defeated by UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 154. The 28-year-old was expected to rematch GSP's teammate Rory MacDonald at this weekend's UFC 158 card but MacDonald pulled out. Immediately, Johny Hendricks called up the UFC and asked to fight Condit and was granted the opportunity. Condit spoke to Damon Martin of Bleacher Report about how much he'd get out of a win over Hendricks:
"The reward could be pretty sweet. He's real high profile, he's pretty much cleared out the division, and he's definitely the No. 1 contender. A win over him would put me right back in the No. 1 contender's spot."

He was also asked to make the comparison between Hendricks and MMA legend Dan Henderson, who is also a wrestler with devastating power in his hands:
"There are some similarities there but I think the difference is Hendo is towards the end of his career, he's not as versatile as he used to be. Ultimately he kind of is a one-trick pony. Hendricks, he does have that in his arsenal, but he has a lot of other things. He's still athletic, he still moves really well. He's a more dangerous version of the one-punch, KO wrestler that Hendo is."

That's a pretty solid assessment to me. While Hendricks hasn't proven to have elite MMA wrestling yet either, Henderson's MMA wrestling has always been pretty overrated. Nonetheless, a win for Condit might not get him another immediate shot at the UFC welterweight title, but at least he understands what he's up against on Saturday night.
